Background

Due to increasingly limited land availability in many cities, as well as growing development pressure, energy-efficient housing provision is of great importance.

Project Objectives

The goal of the BONUS project was to activate unused potential for inward development (focus on 1- to 2-family homes) by developing a transferable, holistic consulting service and a transferable service delivery model. Building on existing data bases and methods from previous projects such as BONSEI! (Bestand Optimal Nutzen – Sanierung Energieeffizient Implementieren > Making the Most of Existing Building Stock – Implementing Renovation Energy-Efficiently) and Alpine Building Centre, the analyses for identifying suitable densification potential were expanded to include aspects related to green and open spaces as well as mobility.

Results

The BONUS consulting service was standardized and successfully implemented in Feldkirch and Salzburg.
