Background
The actual renovation rate of buildings may be higher than previously assumed, as many measures are not reflected in official statistics. This unreported share affects the realistically achievable savings potential. The project analyzes energy performance certificate data from the State of Salzburg’s ZEUS database to examine the relationship between documented renovations and renovations that were not captured.
Project Objectives
The goal is to identify and quantify undocumented renovation measures and to provide a realistic assessment of remaining savings potential at the building level. To do so, existing energy performance certificates are systematically evaluated and matched with actual renovation measures.
Results
The project provides a sound basis for assessing renovation dynamics in the existing building stock. It supports the strategic planning of funding measures and shows how digital databases can contribute to improving energy efficiency policy.
