The Alpine Building Centre serves as know-how base for resource-efficient and sustainable building. It provides especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with access to current research findings and innovative developments in both the construction sector and sustainable settlement development.
Owing to the Centre, research and transfer in one of the most relevant future topics are bolstered and the creation of new technologies is promoted. Exploring and implementing new technologies poses a challenge especially to SMEs, since they usually do not conduct their own research. In the Centre, the resources required for the necessary knowledge and technology transfer can be built up, thus strengthening the regional innovation system. Because of the targeted dissemination into industry and administration, the Centre helps to reinforce the competitiveness of local SMEs and regions.
The overall aim is to transfer research findings to industry and to initiate joint research and development projects between industry and science in the City and the State of Salzburg. In order to achieve this, specific transfer workshops and themed events during the annual Alpine Building Conference (Fachsymposium Brennpunkt Alpines Bauen) are organized.
